The thing about Sharjah Archaeology Museum is that you don’t even know it exists, and that it’s right there, in the middle of town!
Being specific, the museum is on the S115 (also known as Al Nadha Street), and can be found if you go to Sahara Centre Mall and head toward Sharjah. Just keep going until you get there, it will be on your right just before you reach Cultural Square roundabout (or ‘Book roundabout’ as it’s often named). Exhibits date from 5000BC so you really get a sense of how the UAE has evolved over time.
The entrance fee is very low and if all the exhibits are paid close attention to a few hours can be walked away. But the beauty of this museum is that it can be viewed during a lunch break, or even just before you go shopping (to stop the kids whining about not having a TV to watch!). Really, it’s an oasis of calm amid a storm of traffic and smog.
