There are beaches everywhere, but not all beaches are equal. There’s a beach in between Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain that (if you have been in the UAE for more than the standard three years) will remind you of the little enclaves you used to be able to find in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. To get there you need to either go from UAQ, past Dreamland Aquapark, and then turn back when you reach the Marjan Island roundabout, or, take the 311 into RAK and turn left instead of right at the main roundabout.
There are no shops. There is no shade. And, you don’t want to go on a Friday; because it’s packed solid. There is about three kilometre’s of beach and a seemingly endless view of the Arabian Gulf. You’d be better off with a 4×4 than a saloon, although the sand by the road has been flattened enough that your car probably won’t get stuck (probably, we’re not responsible if it does!).
And, you’re going to need a big umbrella or a tent, and the best picnic you can possibly pack!
